The wisdom beneath your thoughts

Take time to be quiet.

Hypnotherapy class has already taught me so much.

I’m halfway through the course and have about 20 hours of practice time under my belt. We need to have 14 for the entire course and I’ve already surpassed that because I love it so much.

I’ve been practicing on fellow students from all around the world plus Paul and a few of my friends. I’ve seen some amazing transformations.

The difference between coaching and Hypnotherapy is that in coaching we do a lot of talking.

When coaching, I ask questions, and answers come from the client who is trying to figure things out. I see the shifts happening and they feel the shift when realizations come.

For most of us . . . .

We try to figure things out
We try to plan…
We try to solve, predict, prevent, analyze…
We’re constantly wrestling with life in our heads.

And yet, when I’m practicing hypnotherapy each week, I’m reminded of something so simple and so profound:

The subconscious knows before the conscious mind does.

Here is how I’ve experienced it.

In hypnosis, we use a slow, gentle rhythm of language to help someone relax into a deeper state of awareness.

It’s not magic. It’s not mind control. It’s simply helping the mind step aside long enough for the deeper truth to speak.

And what I’ve noticed is that the moment someone’s shoulders drop, their breathing softens, and their jaw unclenches, I then begin to speak to the unconscious mind and shifts occur instantly.

I’ve seen it happen and the client doesn’t need to figure anything out, their inner Creator, their unconscious and intuitive self does the work and can figure out an inner solution.

This is the same wisdom we all have access to, but most of us are too busy, too stressed, or too “in our heads” to access it.

Our Body Speaks in Sensations, Not Words

In addition, your body is also an incredible source of knowledge and inspiration. For example, It KNOWS what to do to keep everything running.

So if your body is not working right, or you have pain, fear, or feel resistance, it’s simply alerting you that something is not right.

It shows up as:

  • A tightening in your chest
  • A heaviness in your shoulders
  • A flutter in your stomach
  • A deep exhale of relief
  • A quiet inner Yes
  • A gentle inner No
  • Or maybe a sharp pain or dull ache

It’s trying to communicate. It’s trying to tell you something. But maybe the signal is getting too strong because you are ignoring it.

By going into hypnosis, you can tell your body to turn down the volume of that signal, and you can find other ways to protect yourself without the discomfort of the present signal.

And your intuition or higher self can fix it without help from your conscious mind.

I’ve seen it work, and it is so cool.

But we’ve been taught to override these signals.

We tell ourselves:

“I should be logical about this. This doesn’t make sense.”
“I should make the practical decision.”
“I shouldn’t feel this way.”

The thinking brain is important — we need it!

But it is not the only source of wisdom we have.

The body feels what is true, often long before the mind can explain it.

Here’s a 2-Minute Practice to Tune In

Try this simple practice once a day this week:

The Body Check-In

  1. Place one hand on your chest or belly.
  2. Take one slow breath in and out.
  3. Ask yourself: What am I feeling, physically, right now?
  4. Notice the sensation — without labeling it.
  5. Ask: What might this be trying to tell me?

Don’t think your way into the answer.

Listen for the first whisper.

That’s your intuition.

If You’re Feeling a Pull for Change…

Sometimes the body whispers (or yells) because something in your life is ready to shift:

  • A relationship dynamic
  • An old habit you want to change
  • A belief you’ve outgrown
  • A chapter that’s closing
  • A new identity that wants to emerge

If you’re interested in a 30-minute session to practice some of my new hypnotherapy techniques, fill out this survey, and I’ll be in touch to find a convenient time for a Zoom session. (No charge.)

You may find that overcoming your fear, or changing an old habit, can be easy, instantaneous, and so freeing!

Reflection for the Week

Where are you trying too hard to “figure something out?”
Where can you soften and listen instead?

Write it down.
Sit with it.
Listen to your body and let your intuition flow.

Be kind to yourself,
Maureen 🤍

P.S. I had a practice session with my friend a few weeks ago who was procrastinating about something she wanted to do, something creative, but her inner voice was telling her she wasn’t good enough yet. I spoke with her yesterday, and she says that voice is no longer an issue and she’s been busy doing what she loves!
