Slowing Down and Being Happy

I hadn’t planned to be slowing down at this point in my life but I’m loving it so much that I thought I would share.

Since I went on that silent retreat 3 weeks ago I’ve been so incredibly relaxed. Almost too relaxed according to my mind.

But I don’t much listen to that inner chatter anymore. I mean I “hear” it but I don’t often take action on those thoughts.

In fact, I’ve been following my heart much more lately. My heart is telling me I’m semi-retired, so I’m only working when I have a client, facilitating a roundtable, or writing a newsletter. I’m balancing my days with activities and people I love.

Last week I took Thursday off completely and went to visit my mom to celebrate St Patrick’s day. We went out to lunch, took a walk, gave each other foot massages, and talked about old times and happy memories. It was a great day.

On the weekend I had the kids over for a 3-hour play date and play we did! They are so good together and of course, they think we are the best grandparents ever.

On Tuesday this week, I took Paul’s daughter Jessie to a Float Experience at Yono Yoga & Meditation studio in Willimantic, CT. We each had our own room, took showers and got into a 94-degree pool of water with Epsom salts, and floated for an hour. It was a sensory deprivation tank. You could leave the light on or off, and the same with the music. I chose to turn both off after about 10 minutes and it was so relaxing. We loved it!

I know that many of you cannot do this yet if you are working a full-time job but I know you CAN make more time for yourself and the things you love in life.

Because life is too short to always be stressed out with pleasing other people and working at a job that is not fun.

My mom is turning 88 in a few days. Happy Birthday Mom! And although we don’t often say it out loud, I know my time with her is limited so I want to make the most of it while we are still on the planet together. We are blessed.

You and I both know how fast kids grow up, right? Just a few years ago they were babies! Now the girls are all in school and Rohaan (born 7 weeks early back in Dec of 2019) is 3 already! Will they want to hang out with me when they are teenagers? Maybe. But most likely they won’t if I don’t spend much time with them now creating the foundation for our relationship.

I met Jessie, Paul’s daughter, when she was 11 back in 1986. In the past 18 months, she lost her mom, went through a divorce, was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, went through radiation and chemotherapy, and recently her daughter flew the coop and moved to Georgia.

I’m glad to say she’s doing wonderfully because of her positivity and self-care. One of the books we both read was called Radical Remission: Surviving Cancer Against All Odds, by Kelly A. Turner Ph.D., and I highly recommend it! Even if you don’t know anyone dealing with cancer. We ALL have cancer but our bodies fight it off. Reading this book will increase your capacity to kill the cancer if you take the suggested action.

The point is, we don’t know what is going to happen in life so I say, balance your time between work and the people you love. And if you don’t love the people at work, find a job where you can say that you do!

It’s all possible if you have the tools to co-create your reality. First, take full responsibility for how you think, and second, do not stuff your feelings. You can overcome all of your challenges if you take steps each day. It takes work but it’s worth it.

I love my life and I love helping people like you create a life YOU love. Where are you stuck? Is it your livelihood? Your relationships? Perhaps you put too many people in front of your own self-care.

Have you considered partnering with a coach to help you break free of your self-limiting doubts and start living a life of joy and fulfillment?

When you hear your inner voice giving you excuses why you can’t, then most likely you could use the help.

Please reach out to me if you’d like to talk about how you can transform your life and your thinking so that you can live your purpose and have no regrets in life.

I’ve actually just lowered my prices on coaching because I’m not doing this to make a lot of money. But I only have a limited number of slots available and I’ll only work with those I think I can help. Are you ready for a client/coach partnership? Let’s see if we might be right for each other. Here is a link to my calendar to book a Discovery Session.

Sending you hugs and well wishes,

Maureen
