Are You Part of the Great Resignation?

In December alone 5.9 million Americans were separated from their jobs. In November it was 6.6 million. September and October were huge months as well. There is much talk in the news about the great resignation.

I’ve talked to a lot of people who are in this transition and spoken to audiences filled with unemployed professionals. And just now I looked up to see how many open jobs there were and according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are 10.925 million job openings. That’s almost 11 million open jobs!

Millions of people are getting new jobs. Are you one of them?

This is happening for lots of reasons and here are a few:

  • Toxic work environment or a bad leadership created too much stress and burnout in employees and they are not going to take it anymore
  • Wish to pursue new career paths – people are reinventing themselves because they want to pursue their passions
  • Restaurant and retail workers grew weary of the low pay and health risks that came with their job
  • Boomers are choosing early retirement to satisfy the need for a higher quality of life

If you are pursuing new opportunities in another company, beware that the grass is not always (hardly ever!) greener on the other side of the fence. That’s the bad news. Read on for the good news.

If you are one of the 157.5 million that are currently employed, I have good news for you too.

Many companies are now focusing on retaining their employees. They are tuning in to employee voices who are saying there is poor leadership and the smart ones are investing in training their managers to be better leaders.

If you are a senior leader looking to upgrade the skills of your managers and turn them into leaders whose workers stay loyal to them, then I can help. Click here to meet with me to discuss what’s happening in your organization and how we can turn it around.

If you are an individual contributor, supervisor or manager that is looking to step up into the next level in your career, the opportunities are staggering and you may not need to even change companies. You can make this one better by preparing yourself for a promotion.

I’m not talking about the usual networking-sucking-up-to-the-boss-and-searching-the-job-board-after-updating-your-resume stuff. I’m talking about an uncommon approach.

I’ve developed a quick read guide called:

7 Uncommon Steps to Getting a Promotion At Work

All you have to do is hit Reply” and put “Send me the report” in the subject line and I’ll send it to you.

That’s it! I want you all to succeed no matter if you stay where you are, move to another company, or decide to start your own business.

These steps work!!! I’ve seen it over and over again. People reinvent themselves, get new and better jobs suited for them, get big pay increases and love what they do for a living. You can too.

On the podcast today . . .

Today I’ve interviewed a new LinkedIn friend of mine from DreamLife Recovery and her name is Diana Dubbs. I know you’ll enjoy her inspiring story.

All my best,

Maureen
