Use Your Brain to Reach Your Potential

Use Your Brain Even More in 2022

There are many ways to start off a new year but whatever your ritual is/was, I hope it was healthy and fulfilling.

I always like to plan out my goals or intentions for the year but I said goodbye to resolutions a long time ago. We all know that making lasting changes is hard and unless you can commit 100%, then your resolution will falter and lead to feelings of failure. At least that how it always worked for me.

So my practice is to review my purpose in the work I do and then set my intentions for what I hope to accomplish during the year.

This got me thinking about that purpose which is: Helping leaders, and people in recovery, get to the next level of potential in their career.

And I don’t think anyone would disagree, that the best way to reach your potential, is to correctly and effectively use your brain and mental capacity doing what you love.

However few people can name and properly explain what their mental faculties are, which is why I created a solo podcast episode to explain them to you.

There are six higher faculties of your mind and they are:

  • Imagination
  • Intuition
  • Reason & logic
  • Perception
  • Memory & the 5 senses
  • Will & focus

I realized (as many of us do), on my recovery journey, that the mind is one of the most powerful resources, and hindrances, that I have. This depends upon how I use it or misuse it. Developing these parts of our brain takes practice and focused attention and we need to exercise it, to strengthen it (just like our bodies).

I’m feeling inspired to share my knowledge with you about the brain because I think it is so important during this time of year when you may be setting your intentions on what you want to create in your life or career.

No matter what stage of recovery you are in (or not), learning this may help you to change your perception about how powerful you and your mind, are, when used in the right way.

I hope you learn to use ALL of these higher levels of thinking so you can make the most of this one precious life you have and reach your full potential.

I learned about these higher mental faculties from Bob Proctor, Entrepreneur, and he says:

To achieve your goals and dreams and create the life you want, you must stop focusing on external facts—things you see, hear, taste, touch, and smell—even if you consider them to be “good.”
That is thinking from the outside in and, at best, it limits you to what you’ve achieved in the past. At worst, it sabotages any chance you have at achieving your dreams.
Instead, you’ve got to start thinking from the inside out. Thinking from the inside out is using your mental faculties, starting with imagining what you want and then using your will to keep your attention there.
It’s listening to and acting on your intuition, the small inner voice and seeing the good in everything.
And it’s creating future memories and continually seeing and feeling like the person you want to be.
Each time you do those things, you plant your desire in the garden of your subconscious mind. With increasing repetitions, the image becomes fixed there.
And then, by law, it’s only a matter of time before it moves into form.

We are co-creators in this amazing world and the sky is the limit on what we can create.

If you want help in setting your intentions and meeting your goals with a coach this year, please get on my calendar to talk about it and see if we should work together.

Happy New Year to each and every one of you!

All my best,

Maureen
