Are You a Top Performer?

Are you a top performer?

I don’t know about you but when someone else makes a mistake it’s usually quite easy for me to have compassion and let go of judgment and resentment. However, when I make a mistake, my inner critic is not so kind.

No one is perfect. In fact, when I got into recovery I remember having a difficult time forgiving myself and simply accepting my humanness.

This “not being perfect,” is not only part of the human experience, it’s what holds us back from getting to the next level of the best we can be.

Don’t let it hold you back! We must keep striving.

We must risk making mistakes if we are ever going to be top performers and consistently deliver excellence.

It takes practice and you have to manage your mental, physical and emotional states as best you can.

Do you have the traits of a top performer?

The 9 traits of top performers

Here are 9 key traits of top performers. Strive for these and you will absolutely become the best you can be in your life and on the job.

  1. Top performers have positive beliefs about themselves.
  2. Top performers know that situational changes can bring something positive into their lives.
  3. Top performers know they are resilient, strong, and capable of getting through anything – even trauma.
  4. Top performers know that every challenging emotion they feel is not going to stop them and can feel the feels until it transmutes into more neutral or positive emotions that help them feel better.
  5. Top performers know that the quicker they accept their imperfections, the less pain and challenges they will feel.
  6. Top performers use empowering questions and words, think positive thoughts, and express their feelings with people who support them.
  7. Top performers know they are connected to something bigger than themselves.
  8. Top performers are not alone; they surround themselves with people who can help, who also have positive beliefs and can support them.
  9. Top performers take action. They have a plan which they follow and they make self-care a top priority so they have the energy to take action.

Deliver your best every day. And don’t expect perfection and forgive yourself for mistakes.

Finally, YOU decide if you are a top performer. Don’t let someone else’s opinion of you stop you from doing what you do to be the best you can be.

All my best,

Maureen

P.S. I’ll be on a motorcycle adventure next week with Paul so I’ll be taking a couple of weeks off from podcasting and newsletters. We are going to be staying at a cabin on Lake Champlain in Vermont. I hope you too are taking some time off to kick back and celebrate life during these beautiful summer months.

On the podcast this week . . .

My guest on the podcast this week is from Connecticut and her name is Amy Labossiere, an artist. She and her husband Tao, also an artist, work on public art projects in Hartford and they are a huge support to the growing artist community.

I’ve been FB friends with Amy for years but finally got to meet her and speak with her on this podcast and one of the things that amazed me about her was the fact that she started 2 zoom meetings a day, in March of 2020, and they are still going strong and are available internationally now! This is a perfect example of stepping up into leadership and making a huge impact.

To hear her whole, inspiring story, you’ve got to listen to this episode.

I have open seats in my coaching program.

Click below to see if it’s for you! It’s not just for people “in recovery.” It’s for any professional who is looking to step up in their career.

Here’s what Catherine had to say:

At the start of the Recovery@Work course, I felt defeated at my job and in a dark place as a person. As a result of taking this course, I learned so many useful techniques to help re-kindle my passion for my job and defeat the voice in my head that was taking over my life. My advice is to take this course, even if you think you have the willpower to overcome hard times, take it. You will surprise yourself with what a little soul searching can do to improve your quality of life – in and out of work. Maureen was a great coach, flexible, honest, and truly caring about my progress and the work we were doing together.
