Change Your Beliefs – Change Your Future

Do you remember the last time when you were in a situation where you were overwhelmed or unsure, and you heard yourself saying in your mind “I can’t do this?” Maybe you didn’t feel competent enough or perhaps you felt fear about not getting the outcome you wanted. Maybe you didn’t want to disappoint people around you.

Those negative thoughts that take over in your mind are beliefs.

Your thoughts are the only thing you actually have complete control of (truth).

You get to decide what you believe. Only YOU can change your thoughts. They may have been planted by others through childhood conditioning. Or maybe you had some bad or past traumatic experiences so your mind tells you it will always be “this way or that way.” But that is not true.

The hard part is routing out those beliefs but when you become aware of them and know that you can change them. . . well that will change EVERYTHING.

The thing about beliefs is that whether you think you can do something or you think you can’t, either way, you’re right. That quote was said over 80 years ago by Henry Ford and it still lives on.

I learned that the most important thing about my own personal growth was to be conscious of my thoughts and when they were negative or I was beating myself up in my head, that I needed to stop it and change it.

I had to take 100 % responsibility for everything I was thinking and for all that I had created in my life up until this point. I learned that if I wanted things to be different going forward, then I had to change the way I was thinking.

In my podcast this week, I share a story of how I got a promotion to branch manager out of the blue. I wasn’t expecting it. In fact, it was thrust upon me and I was ill equipped to handle it.

Out of that experience, I eventually came to believe that “No one at work wants to see me fail.”  But first, I did fail because my belief was, “They want to see me fail.” And “This organization is failing so I better get out while I can.” LOL!

What we believe is often a blueprint for what shows up in our life.

Building new beliefs not only in myself, but beliefs in how life works, the Universe/source/God (or whatever you want to call It) works, and having the belief that Life supports me unequivocally, no matter what, has made all the difference in how my career and my life turned out.

If you are feeling like a victim at work because you’ve somehow attracted a narcissic boss who is a bully, or there is another colleague or customer who is a constant thorn in your side and making your work life miserable, please come to my webinar called “Should I stay or Should I go” so you can get some clarity on how to make things better in your work life.

I’ll give you a formula to figure out if you can improve your situation (Assess), what your options are (Acknowledge), and what to do about it (Act). You’ll have a solution to make things better regardless of your decision to either stay or move on and try something else.

What you believe about your choices is key to your success regardless of what decision you make.

Next week I’ll be sending out a link to registration. If you’d like me to hold a spot for you, hit reply to this email and say “Yes!”

In the meantime, take a listen to episode 7 of Emerge. Evolve. Lead. podcast where I share a story about how I became a manager overnight, with no training, during a horrible lonely time in my life which turned out to be my alcoholic bottom. Not a good time for a promotion right? But I learned so much because not only was I able to get sober, it was clear that many of my beliefs had to change.

Hidden beliefs will reveal themselves as you continue to see what shows up for you in your life. If you don’t like what you see and experience, there is an underlying belief you have that needs to change if you want a different future. (Reread that last line because it is super important.)

As your thoughts and beliefs get better, your life gets better! Guaranteed.

Ready to take the step to change the beliefs that hold you back? Listen to the episode.

All my best,
Maureen
